You can see the Pacific Ocean tank from the top during the tour.
During the 75-min. tour you are guided, via wireless earphone, around the Kaiyukan including its operational areas on the 8th floor. Along with behind-the-scenes operations and basics in ecology, in Japanese, a Marine Mate explains how the creatures live in the Kaiyukan in each place and how staff members establish relationships with them.
Eligible participants:
Individual visitors aged 10 years old or above, or a small group (not more than 20 participants).
Tour fee:
\500 (adult or child)
*The aquarium admission fee is separately required.
(Visitors can enter the aquarium again after completing their guided tour.)
*A tour may be suspended when the Kaiyukan is overcrowded.
*Please check the starting time of the tour, when reserving.

KAIYUKAN Otomari School (One night school) (in Japanese)

From time to time, KAIYUKAN holds One Night School, where participants can observe animal activities during the night that are rarely seen during the day time with their sleeping bags.
Schedule:
1: Oct. 6 (Sat.) - Oct. 7 (Sun.)
2: Oct. 13 (Sat.) - Oct. 14 (Sun.)
3: Oct. 20 (Sat.) - Oct. 21 (Sun.)
4: Oct. 27 (Sat.) - Oct. 28 (Sun.)
The period of each school is two-day and one-night.
First day: Starts at 7:30 p.m. (Please participate in the program after eating dinner.)
Second day: Ends at 10:00 a.m. (Hotel Seagull serves your breakfast. Breakfast costs are included in the participation fee.)
Eligible participant and Fee:
A couple consists of;
An elementary school student and a guardian (18 years old or more):8,000 yen/ couple.
Or,
A junior high school student and a guardian (18 years old or more): 8,300 yen/ couple
Both participants shall bring their own sleeping bag.
Number of participants: Up to 40 (20 couples) /Program (Total number:160)

Participants will sleep in front of tanks on the fifth floor such as Pacific Ocean (Whale shark, Manta ray, etc.), Tasman Sea (Whitesided dolphin) and Cook Strait (Sea turtle, etc.)
10:30 p.m. - Bedtime
* Second day
6:00 a.m. - Hour of rising, Tidying, Washing face
6:40 a.m. - Move to Hotel Seagull (Five minutes walk) and eat a breakfast there.
7:45 a.m. - KAIYUKAN tour in the morning
9:30 a.m. - Fill in the questionnaire, and summarize the program
10:00 a.m. - Dismiss.
* According to the preference, participants are able to see the KAIYUKAN again for free.
* According to the situation, the time schedule may be changed.

Let's make a venture into KAIYUKAN Night with aquarists! Series of KAIYUKAN Summer Night Tour were also held in this summer. Usually, the tour starts at 6:50 p.m. First, in the KAIYUKAN Gallery, participants appreciate the special exhibition “KAIYUKAN Water Safari” having been held since July 12 (Wed.). Then after walking through Aqua Gate and observing the behind-the-scene of the Pacific Ocean tank on the eighth floor, participants look at KAI-kun listening to the story of carrying him in KAIYUKAN. Later, they go back to the passage in the aquarium and enjoy the tour again with aquarists holding flash lights.
From the evening to the night, living things in the KAIYUKAN aquarium gradually change their behaviors. Sea otters have a sleep on the surface of the water. Kings penguins sleep posturing intriguingly. Tropical fishes sleep hiding the coral, etc. On the contrary, nocturnal living things such as morays, spiny lobsters and common octopuses begin to move actively. In a silent KAIYUKAN, participants can hear joyful yelp of whitesided dolphins.

July 27 (Fri.), 28 (Sat.) and 29 (Sun.),
August 3 (Fri.), 4 (Sat.), 5 (Sun.), 10 (Fri.), 17 (Fri.), 18 (Sat.), 19 (Sun.), 24 (Fri.), 25 (Sat.) and 26 (Sun.).
Each tour ends in a day.

Programs for school and general groups to listen to, observe and lean living things in KAIYUKAN.
KAIYUKAN is one of the largest aquariums in the world, reproducing the natural environment of Pacific-rim areas. Keepers will talk about wonderful living things' lives and give stories behind the scene. Let's learn together what we can do to protect our precious water and environment.
Please make use of KAIYUKAN academy for school events such as a school excursion, an outside school class and a comprehensive learning class, a local children class and a corporation training course.

To enhance the interactive communication between customers and KAIYUKAN, and improve services of KAIYUKAN, KAIYUKAN established “KAIYUKAN Fun Club.” KAIYUKAN provides the public with learning programs such as the living things learning program, the “Behind the Scene” tour and the nature observational excursion.

<Annual Membership Fee>
Member: 2,100 yen (Including tax. High school student, or over the age of 16)
Child member: 1,000 yen (Including tax. Elementary school children and Junior high school students. Application by the member is required.)
<Expirery>
One year from the admission or update.
<How to apply>
Request the application form by telephone, post card or e-mail, fill in that form, and pay the annual admission fee from any post office. A few weeks later, Kaiyukan Fan Club office sends you a membership card, an admission ticket, etc. (Application can be handed out in KAIYUKAN.)
<Special Privilege>
1. An admission ticket will be presented.
A ticket for an adult member and a child ticket for a child member will be presented as a gift. The available period of the ticket is one year, and a person other than a member can use such ticket.
2. Event for members
Adult members and child members are able to participate in any event for members. Family members of KAIYUKAN Fun Club members are available to join a part of the programs. (Another fee is required.)
3. Ten Ten-Percent-Discount Tickets which can be used for each facility of Tempozan Harbor Village are presented for both adult-members and child-members.
The above tickets are available to use in KAIYUKAN (only admission fee), Suntory Museum (Tempozan), Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel, Sightseeing Cruise Ship Santa Maria, Hotel Segull Tempozan Osaka (Only accommodation fees other than plan and eating and drinking fees other than the lunch are applied.), and Osaka MariTime Museum. The available period of the ticket is one year.
4. Sales of Annual passport “Jinbe Passport”
Only the member may purchase such passport. The adult and child members and the family members of the adult member may use such passport. The tickets start to be sold around May to June every year. The period of the passport is one year (from July 20 to July 19 of the next year.)

Quarterly “KAIYUKAN Fun Club Journal” for the adult member and “Letter of Semiannual “Letter of Challenge from TANKEN-Kun” for the child members are delivered.
